Sarj Gosal
Sarj Gosal is a BC lawyer practising in the areas of WCB claims and appeals and CPP disability appeals. He was born and raised in Vancouver, BC and obtained a Bachelors in Political Science (May 1988) and a Law Degree (LLB –May 1992) from the University of British Columbia. He was called to the Bar in May 1993.
Mr. Gosal has successfully represented a large number of disabled workers (over 2,800) and has extensive experience dealing with WCB and CPP claims and appeals.
Mr. Gosal has been qualified (and provided oral evidence) as an expert regarding Workers’ Compensation matters in the British Columbia Supreme Court.

Michelle Bissenden
Michelle Bissenden is a BC lawyer practising in the areas of WCB claims and appeals and CPP disability appeals. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of British Columbia in 2002, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta in 2006. Michelle was called to the Bar in September 2007.
Michelle has experience conducting oral hearings in front of the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal and the CPP Review Tribunal.
Prior to joining Gosal & Company, Michelle practiced at a leading western Canadian law firm in Vancouver, and worked at a national law firm in Sydney, Australia.

Kerry Birch
Kerry Birch grew up in Langley, BC. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Political Science (2004) and a Law Degree (JD – 2009) from the University of British Columbia. Kerry articled with Gosal & Company between November 2010 and September 2011. During this time, she gained experience in dealing with WorkSafeBC and Canada Pension Plan claims and appeals. Kerry was called to the Bar in November 2011 and has joined Gosal & Company as an associate lawyer.

Elena Kaminsky
Elena Kaminsky grew up in Toronto, Ontario. She obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Creative Writing (HBA, 2007) and a Law Degree (JD, 2011) from the University of Western Ontario. Elena was called to the Ontario Bar in June 2012. Prior to joining Gosal & Company, Elena articled at a Workers’ Compensation law firm in Toronto, Ontario and gained experience in dealing with workers’ and employers’ claims and appeals.

Janet Kwong
Janet Kwong was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and English Literature from the University of British Columbia (BA, 2007) and a Juris Doctor from the University of Manitoba (JD, 2012). During law school, Janet was selected as an Associate Editor for the Canadian Journal of Human Rights. She has also spent time studying in Edinburgh, UK, and Jerusalem, Israel. Janet joined Gosal & Company as an Articling Student.

Karen Tiwana
Karen Tiwana is an Articled Student at Gosal & Company. She was born and raised in Abbotsford, BC. Karen obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia in 2005, with a focus on Political Science and International Relations. She attended law school at the University of Calgary, and graduated in May 2011 with a Juris Doctor degree. During law school, Karen was a case worker at Student Legal Assistance, providing free legal advice to low-income clients. She also represented clients in Provincial Court and attended early conflict resolution meetings with Crown Counsel.
